Whether you’ve lived in Fayetteville your whole life, moved here recently or are just passing through, there are so many iconic spots to visit during your time in the area. Here are a few of our favorite places from historic landmarks to must-see museum exhibits:
- The Cape Fear Botanical Garden is a natural beauty situated on an impressive 80 acres just two miles from downtown Fayetteville. Highlights include Camellia, Daylilly and Shade Gardens, Butterfly Stroll and Children’s Garden and the Heritage Garden featuring 1886 agricultural structures and a homestead.
- The Airborne & Special Operations Museum recounts the actions of heroic soldiers with displays dating back to 1940 and World War II with the conception of the U.S. Army Parachute Test Platoon.
- J.P. Riddle Stadium is home to our local summer collegiate baseball league team, the Fayetteville Swamp Dogs! The ballpark has a capacity of 2,500 to 5,000 people and opened in 1987.
- The Museum of the Cape Fear Historical Complex includes the iconic 1897 Poe House, two floors of museum exhibits and Arsenal Park. Make sure to check the event calendar for special happenings throughout the year!
