We’re excited to announce we’re bringing two new lifestyle spots to the community at Marketfair, which is located at 1916 Skibo Rd. Phenix Salon Suites is scheduled to open in the centrally located Fayetteville shopping plaza in early fall and Good Living Coffee Zone is projected to join this May.

The newest tenants each bring a unique offering to the shopping center:

  2. Good Living Coffee Zone offers the finest coffee roasts from Honduras, Kenya, Sumatra and more, along with an expansive menu that includes a variety of smoothies, tea, sorbet and food options including specialty sandwiches and croissants.

The addition of these two new stores furthers the variety of dining, retail and entertainment options available at Marketfair. Additionally, the fine Indian cuisine restaurant Tandoori Bites is expected to open in April 2017.

Grant-Murray Real Estate, a Fayetteville-based full-service commercial real estate firm, represented the shopping center on these new tenant transactions. Fall Recipes from Marketfair

The holidays are a time where many of us can be found in the kitchen! Why not experiment with some new, easy dishes and treats? Here are three awesome fall recipes inspired by our Marketfair restaurants:

Put your Thanksgiving leftovers to good use by creating the ultimate savory sandwich, inspired by Which Wich’s Thank You Turkey Sandwich!

  • Toast two slices of bread of your choice
  • Add leftover sliced turkey – thick or thin!
  • Add leftover stuffing
  • Top with two tablespoons of cranberry sauce

Your leftover veggies don’t have to go to waste, either! Heat up the kitchen with an easy Hibachi Vegetables recipe inspired by Mikoto Japanese Express.

  • Slice vegetables of your choice (zucchini, carrots and onion work well!) and saute in oil
  • Once the veggies are soft, pour in one tablespoon of soy sauce, two tablespoons of terryaki sauce and season to taste with salt and pepper
  • Cook until tender, about 10 minutes
  • Sprinkle with seasame seeds and serve hot!

If you’re not looking to whip up food in the kitchen but want a tasty seasonal beverage, try Rocket Fizz’s Pumpkin Pie flavored soda or make your own Pumpkin Spiced Latte at home!

  • In a small saucepan over low heat, whisk ½ cup of milk, one tablespoon of sugar, one tablespoon of pumpkin puree, a teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice and ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • Simmer for 5 minutes. Whisk in remaining 1/2 cup of milk
  • Pour the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve to remove the pulp. Place the mixture back in the pan and whisk for 2 minutes while it simmers
  • Add ¼ cup brewed coffee or espresso and whisk until foamy

Full-Service Indian Restaurant Coming to the Marketfair Food Scene

New tenant alert! We’re adding fine Indian cuisine to our retail, dining and cinema destination, located at 1916 Skibo Rd. Tandoori Bites, an award-winning restaurant serving authentic Indian dishes with a unique twist, is expected to open in early 2017 at our centrally-located Fayetteville shopping plaza.

Tandoori Bites uses the freshest ingredients to stir fry exotic tastes and colors into its dishes. The expansive menu includes classics such as chicken tikka masala, vegetable korma, curries and more. Additionally, specialties include tandoori shrimp, which features fresh jumbo shrimp marinated in a delicate yogurt, and seekh kababs, which includes minced‎ lamb seasoned with onions, herbs and spices, all baked in a tandoori oven.

The new restaurant at Marketfair will serve a lunch buffet and full-service dinner seven days a week, as well as a full bar including cocktails, beer and wine. Tandoori Bites has been a foodie favorite in Wilmington, North Carolina for the past nine years, and the Fayetteville store marks its second location.

“Fayetteville is the perfect city for our expansion and we couldn’t have selected a more ideal spot to open than Marketfair shopping center,” said TJ Sing, Tandoori Bites owner. “Our traditional Indian cuisine has won over diners on the coast for years, including visitors from the Fayetteville area, and we can’t wait to share our distinct dishes with the local community.”

The restaurant joins shopping center anchors Carmike Cinemas, Gander Mountain and H.H. Gregg, as well as Planet Fitness, Mikoto Japanese Express, Which Wich Superior Sandwiches, Rocket Fizz Soda Pop & Candy Shop, Ruby Nails, Lumber Liquidators, Pioneer Services, The Air Force Recruiting and recently opened educational sports franchise, Kids In Sports.

“Tandoori Bites brings a fresh new flavor to Marketfair shopping center and we’re excited to help introduce the restaurant to the community,” said Dusty Wiederhold, founding principal at WSB Retail Partners. “This full-service dining establishment is a wonderful complement to our existing stores, making Marketfair even more of the ultimate destination for a dinner and movie date night, or fun afternoon out with friends.”

Grant-Murray Real Estate, a Fayetteville-based full-service commercial real estate firm, represented the shopping center on the new tenant transaction. Remaining available spaces range from 1,900 to 6,500 square feet. Give Thanks & Give Back

Thanksgiving has an amazing history of giving and sharing. It is a legacy so much richer than an afternoon watching football and recuperating from a food coma, although those things certainly add fun to the day. Here are a few inspired ways you can give back to the Fayetteville community this Thanksgiving!

  1. Donate a Turkey

Make a difference this Thanksgiving by donating food to a deserving family in your area! The donation of a turkey with all the trimmings will make a world of difference to a struggling family this holiday. Contact The Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina to learn more and donate!

  1. Send a Care Package to the Troops

The military has a special place in all the hearts of Fayetteville. Show your support by sending a care package to a soldier overseas. Thanksgiving is the perfect time to show your appreciation for our troops, and sending a holiday care package is a great way to give back. Visit this website to find a soldier to help!

  1. Be a Good Neighbor

You don’t always have to go through an organization to spread the good! Find a neighbor in need and ask what you can do to help them out. Offer to rake leaves, make a delicious dinner meal or watch their pets for the weekend while they’re away. If you don’t know who to help, check out this website to find people in need!

Make this Thanksgiving a holiday to remember, whether it’s sharing the gift of a hot meal or volunteering at a local 5K! Kindness is key, and there’s no better way to add meaning to your Thanksgiving than by dedicating a few hours with your loved ones to giving back.

Our Top Picks from Which Wich Superior Sandwiches

If you’re unsure of what to get from the new Which Wich at Marketfair Shopping Center, here are five of our favorite orders from Which Wich Superior Sandwiches:

  • The Wicked is Which Wich’s signature sandwich that includes five meats – turkey, ham, roast beef, pepperoni and bacon – and three cheeses of your choice. If you want to add a little extra kick to it we suggest adding red onions, lettuce and tomatoes.
  • For the veggie lovers out there we recommend a vegetarian sub option like the Caprese sub which is made up of mozzarella, pesto and tomatoes. Adding avocado, caramelized onions, spinach and tomatoes just adds greatness to this veggie sub!
  • Like keeping things simple? Be sure to try Which Wich’s Turkey sub! Spice it up a little with some bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, banana peppers, crispy onion strings and ranch dressing.
  • If you enjoy trying subs that aren’t necessarily inside of the box, go for the Elvis Which that consists of peanut butter, bacon, honey and bananas. Try this one cool as a Coldwich or toasty with a Hotwich.
  • Needing a little taste of the sea this summer? Try the tasty Surf & Turf sub with crab salad and artichoke hearts. To make this sub even more interesting, try topping it with sweet chili sauce, spinach and cucumbers.

There are endless options of delicious subs at Which Wich Superior Sandwiches and we can’t wait for you to try them all! Find out more about Which Wich and explore their great menu at www.whichwich.com.

Introducing Fayetteville’s New Marketfair Shopping Center

If you’ve driven down Skibo Road within the past few weeks, chances are you’ve noticed that construction at Marketfair is well underway! The old mall space located in the heart of Fayetteville is being transformed into a modern, open-air shopping center and cinema destination where locals will be able to enjoy movie date nights, shopping with friends and fun community events.

Last month, city officials and developers officially broke ground on the complete site redevelopment at a packed community celebration, where exciting new details about the shopping center were shared. Most importantly, the new Marketfair is expected to open in fall 2014 – just in time to provide a great new spot for holiday shopping!

The main portion of the shopping center is designed to have a contemporary L-shape layout centered by Carmike Cinemas, so locals will be able to take advantage of open-air shopping, alfresco dining and evening strolls before catching a movie once the plaza opens.

The inviting community destination is expected to have national brand name retail stores and a mix of casual to upscale restaurants with a variety of menu types, offering something for everyone in town. Plus, the redevelopment also includes plans for three new driveways into the plaza from Skibo Road, Campground Road and Morganton Road, which will drastically help traffic flow into the complex.
